Be an Instructor
Becoming an approved driving instructor can be very rewarding both in financial terms, and from a job satisfaction point of view. The demand for instructors is growing substantially as the number of tests that are being taken each year increases. Last year there where something in excess of 1.5 million tests conducted by the DSA.
To keep an instructor fully employed (40 hours per week) takes, on average, about 70 pupils per year. This can produce a net income of £28,000 per annum depending on the number of hours worked, the lesson rate charged and the cost of any franchise fee and associated running costs.
All instructors have to pass a three part exam set by the Driving Standards Agency in order to gain a licence to trade as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). Having qualified, the question for most is whether they set up thier own business or take on a franchise with one of the many national or regional driving schools. Not many people realise that all driving instructors are self employed in the UK and irrespective of who they ultimately associate themselves with, they all have to pass the same national examination!
The training which we provide through our associated instructor college, is of the highest standard and is ORDIT approved. ORDIT is the official register of driving instructor trainers and was set up by the Driving Standards Agency to ensure that member companies adhere to a strict quality and ethical code in delivering instructor training in the UK. It is your guarantee that your training will be to the highest possible standard of tuition!
