"I enjoy watching football and have been an Everton supporter since I was quite young. I also enjoy gardening and yoga. I joined the Royal Navy at 16 and sailed on all 3 invincible class aircraft carriers travelling the world. As one of the youngest person's on board HMS Invincible I had the privilege of meeting the Queen as part of the meet your navy tour around the UK. When I left the navy I became a a mortgage advisor and spent a couple of years working as a company director in the financial services industry."
What does he enjoy about being a driving instructor
"You get to meet so many interesting people and the one thing you learn about being a driving instructor is that every pupil is different. I often get asked if I get bored teaching the same things all the time, but the reality is that you have to adapt each lesson to suite the pupil. There arent many jobs where you can teach somebody a life skill that changes their lives so dramatically. For many pupils, being able to drive gives them greater independence."
Best moment as an instructor
"I taught my Fiancé to drive many years ago and that was probably my best moment when she passed her test, I think it was because I got to see first hand the difference it made to her life where as often once my pupils pass and go through PASS PLUS, I may see them on the road or get the odd call from them for a referral, but never get to see the difference driving makes to their life. "
Any funny moments
"I once had a pupil who had never been in a car before her first lesson, I was fairly new do driving tuition and never thought to explain how to take off a seatbelt and hold on to the buckle... she clicked the red button her seatbelt flew across her body and the buckle went straight through the passenger window. I have learned the hard way never to take anything for granted when it comes to driving tuition!"
